Block paving gone green. Concrete black along the edges. Moss through the cracks. All of it comes off with the right treatment. KBL Cleaning pressure washes driveways across Sheerness, Sittingbourne, Faversham, and Medway.
Block paving is the most common driveway surface in Kent and the one we clean most often. The main problems are moss and weed growth between the joints, algae film across the surface, and the blocks sinking or shifting where the sand has washed out. We pre-treat with an algae killer, let it work for 20 to 30 minutes, then pressure wash at a controlled angle that lifts the dirt without blowing the sand out of the joints.
After cleaning, we re-sand the joints with kiln-dried sand as standard. This is not an optional extra. Without it, the blocks move and the weeds come back faster. Most customers also get the patio done on the same visit. We cover locations across Kent.

Get a QuoteThe approach is different depending on what your driveway is made of. Here is the general process.
Block paving, concrete, tarmac, or natural stone. Each needs different pressure and chemicals.
Algae killer and degreaser applied. 20 to 30 minutes dwell time. This is what determines how long the results last.
Controlled pressure adjusted for the surface. Tarmac needs lower pressure than concrete. Natural stone needs the lightest touch.
Block paving gets kiln-dried sand in the joints as standard. Natural stone can be re-pointed if needed. Sealing available on request.
Concrete driveways respond well to higher pressure. The results are usually the most dramatic of any surface we clean. A driveway that looks permanently grey comes up several shades lighter in a single pass. Oil stains need a degreaser treatment first, but even old marks reduce significantly. Tarmac needs lower pressure than concrete. Too much force can strip the top layer and damage the surface, particularly older ones where the surface has started to break down at the edges.
Natural stone driveways and paths need the most careful handling. Too much pressure damages the surface and blasts out the pointing. We use a lower pressure setting with a rotary surface cleaner and a pre-treatment soak that does most of the heavy lifting before the water touches the stone. If the pointing has already deteriorated, we can re-point after cleaning. A standard two-car driveway of around 30 to 40 square metres takes between two and four hours depending on surface type and condition.
